ScottishPower Renewables Invites Local Companies to Harestanes `Meet the Contractor’ Days

08/05/2012

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) wants to hear from local contractors, plant hire suppliers, accommodation providers, outside caterers and any other companies interested in working on the construction of Harestanes Windfarm.

SPR has appointed Farrans (part of the Northstone (NI) Limited Group) to deliver the infrastructure of the project and together they are holding ‘Meet the Contractor’ days in Moffat and Dumfries.

All interested companies will be able to speak to a member of the project team building the windfarm and find out if they can get involved and support this very important development.

Located between Moffat and Dumfries in the Forest of Ae, the 68 turbines of Harestanes will be capable of producing enough cleaner, greener energy to power the equivalent of over 78,000 homes.

Work is due to get underway in late May/early June and will continue until the summer of 2014.

ScottishPower Renewables, Senior Construction Project Manager, Stephen Ward said:

“Working with local companies is a key aim of all our developments and we know that there are many companies in Dumfries & Galloway who can bring invaluable local services, knowledge and experience to this project and we want to try and utilise what is right on our doorstep.”

The ‘Meet the Contractor Days’ will be held at the following locations;

Buccleuch Arms Hotel, Moffat , 15th May 3pm to 8pm

Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries, 16th May 3pm to 8pm

Businesses that are unable to attend the events are invited to submit their details for inclusion within ScottishPower Renewables’ dossier of skills and services by e-mailing the project mailbox.
