ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) today submitted plans to Perth & Kinross Council to build a seven turbine windfarm on the Bamff Estate, 5km north-west of Alyth.
SPR’s application for Bamff Windfarm, which was supported by a detailed environmental impact assessment, is for a 14MW project, which could provide the annual electricity requirements for approximately 8,000 homes.
Work on the proposed development has been ongoing since 2010, which included extensive environmental studies and continuous engagement and consultation with the local community and stakeholders.
A final decision on the application will be taken by Perth & Kinross Council’s Planning Committee and is expected next year.
John Alexander, Project Director, ScottishPower Renewables said:
“Our team has worked very hard on creating a project that is sensitive to its environment and will make an important contribution to Scotland’s renewable energy targets.
“We have been in regular discussion with the Council planning team, the local community and consultees throughout the development process and feel we have put together an extremely strong application.”
