Pollards Solar Farm – Introduction

Welcome to the Pollards Solar Farm Public Information Event.

ScottishPower Renewables (UK) Limited (SPR) are developing Pollards Solar PV, comprising of up to 49.9 MegaWatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

Pollards Solar Farm (‘the Proposed Development’) is located within the administrative boundary of Wealden District Council (WDC) (‘the Site’). The Proposed Development will provide renewable electricity to the wider electricity network, and the BESS will contribute to grid stability and the overall efficiency of the site.

Solar

Solar power has a key role to play as part of the mix of renewable energy sources required to meet national energy targets, in particular the Government’s legally binding target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This Proposed Development has the potential to significantly contribute towards these national targets and to make a considerable difference in reducing national CO2 emissions.

Purpose of the Public Information Event (PIE)

SPR held an online Public Information Event (PIE) in June 2021, to introduce the community of the proposed Renewable Energy Development – Pollards Solar Farm.  SPR strive to engage with members of the local communities on all our development opportunities, therefore this time a face-to-face PIE event was held on the 6th December 2021 to update the local community on the progress of our proposal at Pollards Solar Farm.

This PIE provided the following opportunities to:

•           See how the design of the scheme has evolved

•           Have an overview of the environmental survey work undertaken

•           Comment and provide feedback on the proposals to the Council; and

•           Understand the next steps in the development process.
