Witches welcome at Whitelee

24/10/2023

ScottishPower Renewables’ Whitelee windfarm is welcoming back wicked witches, ghoulish ghosts and everything in between to celebrate Halloween.

For the first time since 2018, Scotland’s largest onshore windfarm, situated just outside of Glasgow, is hosting a ‘fright night’ for all the family on Friday 27th October from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

Gruesome games are promised at the Visitor Centre, including pumpkin bowling and witches hat ring toss as well as an opportunity to unleash your creative side and create some last-minute costume additions with masquerade mask making and crafting some witch gliders.

The event will be run by Whitelee’s Countryside Rangers, a programme funded by ScottishPower Renewables to promote responsible access within the windfarm. Carrying out regular patrols on the windfarm on foot, bike and vehicle and engaging with visitors to help them enjoy the area, the Rangers are a great source of information on windfarm biodiversity, local history and the best routes to take along the trails.

Fiona Struth, Ranger at Whitelee Windfarm, said: “We’re so looking forward to celebrating Halloween at Whitelee again after five years.

“We have lots of tricks and treats in store at our visitor centre and for those who dare, you can take a walk around the windfarm in the dark – who knows what might be lurking there.”

The Visitor Centre Café will be open with hot and cold drinks available for purchase alongside some sweet treats.
