In June 2015, we announced the signing of a preferred turbine supply agreement with Siemens for the supply, installation and commission of up to 102 wind turbines, each rated at 7 megawatts.

We are approaching this as a single contract to combine the supply and installation scope. Siemens is also providing operations and maintenance services for between five to ten years.

The scope for the East Anglia ONE’s turbine foundations and piles will be split into two packages; firstly, the design of the foundations and piles and secondly; the supply of the foundations and piles.

For foundation and pile design, a single contract has been awarded to Ramboll. The project anticipates steel jacket foundations with three legs.

Lamprell have been awarded a contract to supply 60 of the 102 steel foundation jackets for East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm.  24 of the jackets will be supplied by Harland and Wolff at their Belfast facility.

Navantia have been awarded a contract to supply the remaining 42 jacket foundations with fabrication taking place at the Puerto Real facilities.  

ScottishPower Renewables has contracted marine engineering specialist Van Oord to transport and install the foundation jackets on the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm. Van Oord, as contractor, will use Seajack’s state-of-the-art Scylla as the main installation vessel for the works, the world’s largest and most advanced working in offshore wind. The contract will support 140 current positions with Seajacks, and allows the company to create up to 75 new jobs.

ScottishPower Renewables has contracted VBMS, a subsidiary of Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. (Boskalis) for supply, installation and burial of the inter array cables on the East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm.  The scope of work will also include termination and testing of the 102 66kV cables.

The onshore and offshore transmission package of works includes the supply and installation of:

• Two subsea export cables, each 73 kilometres in length
• Six onshore cables, each 37 kilometres in length
• One offshore substation and required electrical components
• One onshore substation and required electrical components
• onshore cable installation

This will take a multi-contract approach.

ScottishPower Renewables have awarded a contract to Navantia to fabricate the topside and jacket of the Offshore Substation.

ScottishPower Renewables has agreed a contract with Nexans and Darlington-based DeepOcean to fabricate and install the export cables for the East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm. The contract will safeguard 150 jobs in Darlington and the surrounding area, as well as enabling DeepOcean to offer significant opportunities to the UK supply chain.

A number of ports are necessary to construct and operate East Anglia ONE.

Construction Management and Operations and Maintenance services

Scope: A port facility is required in which the main operations and maintenance activities will take place over the life of the windfarm.

This will include office accommodation, warehouses, outdoor lay-down areas, parking, welfare facilities, onshore control rooms, pontoons and berths for the daily transfer of personnel, tools and minor spare parts to the site. This facility will also be used for crew transfers, minor tool storage, marine co-ordination and project and contractor management during construction.

Status: The port of Lowestoft has been chosen for this.

Wind turbine pre-assembly port

Scope: Facility used for receiving components from the different manufacturing sites, final onshore pre-assembly, pre-commissioning works, storage and handling of pre-assembled wind turbines prior to loading to installation vessels.

Status: The port of Great Yarmouth has been chosen for this.

Foundations marshalling port

Scope: Facility for onshore / floating storage and handling of piles and jacket foundations, that will be received from various manufacturing sites on board transport vessels, and after storage loaded onto the respective installation vessels. Some minor pre-installation preparation of foundation components could also take place here.

Status: BOW Terminal, at the port of Vlissingen has been chosen for this.
